# Getting Started with iDrop

Welcome to iDrop! This guide walks you through creating an account, uploading your first files, and sharing links with others.

## Create an Account

### Sign Up

1. Visit the iDrop homepage and click **Get Started** or **Register**.
2. Enter your **Name**, **Email Address**, and choose a **Password**.
3. Confirm your password by entering it a second time.
4. Click **Create Account** to complete registration.

### Log In

1. Go to the iDrop login page.
2. Enter your **Email Address** and **Password**.
3. Click **Log in** to access your account.
4. Optionally, check **Remember me** to stay logged in on this device.

> **Tip:** If you forget your password, click "Forgot your password?" on the login page to receive a reset link by email.

## Verify Your Email

After registering, you'll need to verify your email address before you can use iDrop.

1. Check your inbox for a verification email from iDrop.
2. Click the **Verify Email Address** button in the email.
3. You'll be redirected to iDrop and can start using the app immediately.

> **Didn't receive the email?** Check your spam or junk folder. You can also request a new verification email from the verification page.

## Navigate the App

Once logged in, you'll see the main interface with a sidebar on the left and your content area on the right.

### Sidebar

The sidebar provides quick access to all sections of iDrop:

- **Today** — Your daily overview and recent activity.
- **Spaces** — Your top-level containers for organizing content.
- **Shared Files** — All files and folders you've shared with others.
- **Requested Files** — File upload requests you've sent to others.
- **Contacts** — Manage the people you share files with.
- **Templates** — Reusable templates for common sharing setups.
- **Documentation** — In-depth reference for all features.

### Spaces, Folders & Files

iDrop organizes your content in a three-level hierarchy:

1. **Spaces** — The highest level. Create separate spaces for different projects or categories.
2. **Folders** — Inside each space, organize files into folders and subfolders.
3. **Files** — Upload and manage individual files within folders.

> **Tip:** Double-click a space or folder card to navigate into it. Use the breadcrumb navigation at the top to jump back to any level.

## Upload Files

Uploading files to iDrop is straightforward. You'll need at least one space and folder before you can upload.

### Step 1: Create a Space

1. Click the **+** button in the toolbar.
2. Select **New Space**.
3. Enter a name and optional description for your space.
4. Click **Create** to finish.

### Step 2: Create a Folder

1. Double-click your new space to open it.
2. Click the **+** button and select **Folder**.
3. Enter a name for your folder and click **Create**.

### Step 3: Upload Your Files

1. Double-click the folder to open it.
2. Click the **+** button and select **Files Upload**.
3. In the upload dialog, either:
   - Drag and drop files into the upload area, or
   - Click **Browse** to select files from your computer.
4. Review your selected files and remove any you don't need.
5. Accept the terms agreement checkbox.
6. Click **Upload** to begin.

Each file shows a progress bar during upload. Up to 3 files are uploaded simultaneously for faster transfers.

> **File Size Limit:** The maximum file size for uploads is 1 GB per file.

## Share Links

Once you have files uploaded, you can create shareable links so others can view or download your content — no account required for recipients.

### Share a Folder

1. Click the **⋮** (three-dot menu) on the folder you want to share.
2. Select **Share** from the dropdown.
3. Configure your share settings:
   - **Include Subfolders** — Let recipients browse into subfolders.
   - **Allow Downloading** — Let recipients download files.
   - **Require Password** — Protect the link with a password.
4. Choose an **Expiration** period (1 day, 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, 1 year, or Never).
5. Click **Create** to generate your share link.
6. Use the **Copy Link** button to copy the URL and send it to anyone.

### Share a Single File

1. Click the **⋮** (three-dot menu) on the file you want to share.
2. Select **Share**.
3. Configure the download permission, password, and expiration settings.
4. Click **Create** and copy the generated link.

### Manage Your Shares

All of your active and expired shares are listed on the **Shared Files** page in the sidebar. From there you can edit settings, copy links, or delete shares at any time.

> **Tip:** You can optionally set a custom Page Title and Page Image URL when creating a share to brand the share page for your recipients.
